Matt Tilston is a mix and mastering engineer specialising in electronic dance music, with a career rooted in both technical excellence and real-world club experience he has now amassed over 2 Billion streams to his name.

His journey began at just 13, when he started one-to-one tuition in music production, learning on Cubase 4 before going on to refine his skills daily on Cubase 5, developing his sound from his bedroom studio.

​

After studying Music Technology at Amersham & Wycombe College he then continued his education at University of Brighton, studying Digital Music & Sound Arts while gaining invaluable hands-on experience as a sound engineer.

 

During this time, he worked at Studio 338, a 3000-capacity superclub in London, as well as The Arch in Brighton, where he managed multiple rooms and an outdoor stage. It was here that Matt’s path into dance music engineering truly took shape, working alongside leading promoters including Sankeys, Defected, Space Ibiza, Solid Grooves and Drum & Bass Arena. He quickly became known for his bespoke tuning of club sound systems, tailoring each setup to suit the music and maximise impact on the dancefloor.

Following university, Matt spent five years at Wired Masters, where he honed his craft across a wide spectrum of commercial dance sub-genres, developing the precision and musical sensitivity that define his work today.

 

He has since collaborated with major labels including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Atlantic Records, and artists such as Cloonee, Skrillex, Chris Lake, Chris Lorenzo and Disco Lines.

Now at Abbey Road Studios, Matt looks forward to continuing to push the boundaries of electronic music, bringing his extensive experience and refined craft to every project he undertakes.
